Uses

This medication is an anti-inflammatory agent used to relieve pain, reduce swelling (inflammation) of arthritis and reduce fever.

How To Use

Take this medication by mouth with food or a full glass of milk or water (8oz. or 240 ml) as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. If you are taking this medication for pain or fever and there is no improvement within 5 days, stop taking this drug and consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Side Effects

Heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and headache may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, ringing in the ears, changes in your hearing.

Precautions

Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney or liver disease, stomach/intestinal ulcers, any allergies (especially to aspirin). This medication may cause stomach bleeding. Daily use of alcohol and this medication may increase your risk for stomach bleeding.

Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, phenylbutazone, "blood thinners" (e.g., warfarin, heparin), aspirin, other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen), ACE inhibitors (e.g., captopril, enalapril), acetazolamide, oral diabetic medicine (e.g., chlorpropamide, glyburide, tolbutamide), corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone), methotrexate, anti-seizure medication (e.g., phenytoin, valproic acid), tetracycline antibiotics (e.g., doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline).

Overdose

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe stomach pain, severe vomiting, change in amount of urine, rapid and shallow breathing.
