What are the contraindications for Invega?
INVEGA SUSTENNA® is not approved for use in patients with dementia-related psychosis. Contraindications: INVEGA SUSTENNA® is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to either paliperidone, risperidone, or to any excipients of the INVEGA SUSTENNA® formulation.

Is Invega Sustenna® effective in the treatment of dementia?
No studies have been conducted with oral paliperidone, INVEGA SUSTENNA®, or the 3-month paliperidone palmitate extended-release injectable suspension in elderly patients with dementia. These medicines are not approved for the treatment of patients with dementia-related psychosis.

INVEGA ® may affect your ability to make decisions, think clearly, or react quickly. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or do other dangerous activities until you know how INVEGA ® affects you.

Is Invega bad for your heart?
One risk of INVEGA ® is that it may change your heart rhythm. This effect is potentially serious. You should talk to your healthcare professional about any current or past heart problems. Because these problems could mean you’re having a heart rhythm abnormality, contact your healthcare professional IMMEDIATELY if you feel faint or feel a change in the way that your heart beats (palpitations).
Can you take Invega if you are allergic to risperidone?
Do not receive INVEGA® if you are allergic to paliperidone, risperidone, or any of the ingredients in INVEGA ®.
Can Invega cause death?
Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) is a rare but very serious problem that can happen in people who receive INVEGA ®. NMS can cause death and must be treated in a hospital. Call your healthcare professional right away if you become severely ill and have any of these symptoms: high fever, severe muscle stiffness, confusion, loss of consciousness, or changes in your breathing, heartbeat and blood pressure.
Does Invega cause TD?
Tardive Dyskinesia ( TD) is a serious, sometimes permanent side effect reported with INVEGA ® and similar medications. TD includes uncontrollable movements of the face, tongue, and other parts of the body. The risk of developing TD and the chance that it will become permanent is thought to increase with the length of therapy and the overall dose taken by the patient. This condition can develop after a brief period of therapy at low doses, although this is much less common. Symptoms may go away partially or completely if therapy is stopped.
Does Invega cause weight gain?
For adolescent patients (12-17 years of age) weight gain should be assessed against that expected with normal growth. INVEGA ® and similar medicines can raise the blood levels of a hormone called prolactin, and blood levels of prolactin remain high with continued use.
What is Invega Sustenna?
INVEGA SUSTENNA® (In-VEY-guh Suss-TEN-uh) (paliperidone palmitate) Extended-Release Injectable Suspension is a prescription medicine given by injection by a healthcare professional . INVEGA SUSTENNA® is used for schizoaffective disorder in adults, either alone or in combination with other medicines such as mood stabilizers or antidepressants, and is used to treat schizophrenia in adults.

Can Invega Sustenna pass into breast milk?
INVEGA SUSTENNA® can pass into your breast milk. Talk to your healthcare professional about the best way to feed your baby if you receive INVEGA SUSTENNA® . Tell your healthcare professional about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
Can you give Invega Sustenna to other people?
Do not give INVEGA SUSTENNA® to other people, even if they have the same symptoms that you have. It may harm them. You can ask your pharmacist or healthcare professional for information about INVEGA SUSTENNA® that is written for healthcare professionals.

Does Janssen CarePath have reminders?
Janssen CarePath offers reminder alerts that may help patients overcome the challenge of keeping up with their injection appointments. The patient will be contacted the day before the injection appointment at the prescribing healthcare provider's office. You can request reminder alert phone calls for your patient, or the patient can elect on the Patient Enrollment Form to receive these via text messages.

Once approved, you’ll receive the medicines you need for up to one year. Before your enrollment ends, we’ll send you a reminder to renew your application for next year.
