What is not included in the Financial Assistance Program?

Our Financial Assistance Program does not include the following: Cosmetic surgery. Services that are not medically necessary. Services to patients who qualify for county, state or federal assistance; other assistance programs; or other health care coverage.

For financial counseling assistance, please contact us at 616-685-6143 (Grand Rapids) or 231-672-4357 (Muskegon).

Is Mercy Health Financial Assistance billed separately?

Services provided by Mercy Health Physician Partners (MHPP) are billed separately, but are covered by Mercy Health Financial Assistance. If you have questions about your bill or want to apply for financial assistance, please contact Patient Business Services – Farmington (PBS-F) Customer Service toll free at 1-866-611-1512.

How much notice do you need to give for flight assistance?

A minimum of 21 days’ notice before your travel date to consider flight assistance.

Does Mercy Medical Angels sponsor a round trip?

Mercy Medical Angels may sponsor a round-trip for a patient and one non-medical attendant (if the doctor finds it medically necessary) on a commercial flight, coach seating.

Does Merck charge for enrollment?

Merck is not associated with any individuals or organizations that may charge patients a fee to assist them in completing enrollment forms for our programs. These individuals or organizations are acting independently of Merck, and do not have Merck's consent.

Is Merck a participant in the Medicine Assistance Tool?

Merck is a proud participant in the Medicine Assistance Tool.

Can you go without a Merck?

At Merck, we believe that no one should go without the medicines or vaccines they need. That is why the company provides certain medicines and adult vaccines for free to people who do not have prescription drug or health insurance coverage and who, without our assistance, cannot afford their Merck medicine and vaccines.

Financial Counseling

Mercy offers patients financial assistance for those who are uninsured and ineligible for federal medical assistance. Payment plans are available and/or a patient can be put on a sliding scale which would allow a percentage of assistance depending on their eligibility under current guidelines.
