Program Description
The Nebraska Medical Assistance Program, also known as the Medicaid Program, is a program that is jointly funded by the State and the Federal government to provide medical coverage to those who meet certain categorical eligibility criteria and who cannot afford to pay for medically necessary services.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of Nebraska, a US national, citizen or permanent resident in need of health care/insurance assistance, whose financial situation would be characterized as low income or very low income.

What to do after Nebraska Medicine receives payment?
After we receive a payment from the insurance company, Nebraska Medicine will send you a patient liability statement for any remaining balance. The amount should match what was stated in the explanation of benefits letter you received from your insurance company. If there is a discrepancy between the two, please be sure to contact the hospital’s Patient Financial Services department between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call Patient Financial Services at 402.559.3140 (or toll-free at 888.662.8662). Interpreters are available.
How long does it take for Nebraska Medicine to bill?
Once we have received payments from everyone else, we’ll send you a bill for what’s left. This process can take several months, so don’t panic if you don’t receive a bill right away.
How to pay your oldest bill?
When paying your bill, the best way to pay a specific bill is to write the information on your check, or in the “amount paid” box on the payment form.

When do you receive a Nebraska medical liability statement?
Several days after you are discharged from the hospital or receive out patient services at a Nebraska Medicine location, you will receive a patient liability statement. Payment for services should be made upon receiving the statement, or you may contact Patient Financial Services to make payment arrangements at 402.559.3140 (or toll-free at 888.662.8662) between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Where is the specialty pharmacy located?
The Specialty Pharmacy is located in the outpatient pharmacy in the Durham Outpatient Center. We provide comprehensive services for filling specialty medications for complex medication therapies that require additional monitoring by a pharmacist. We offer access to clinically trained pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What is RCPS in Nebraska?
Nebraska Medicine Remote Pharmaceutical Care Service (RCPS) provides a customized selection of comprehensive pharmacy services to hospitals where the current population may be underserved with respect to pharmaceutical care and safe medication practices.
What is bedside delivery?
Bedside delivery of prescriptions is offered to inpatients who are interested in the service. The team works with the inpatient care team to deliver discharge medication to the bedside before patients go home.
Does Nebraska Medicine have a pharmacy?
Nebraska Medicine has three, convenient outpatient pharmacy locations that offer retail, specialty and bedside discharge services. Our pharmacy staff does more than just fill your medications, we also work closely with your health care providers to improve care coordination and medication safety.
Can you drop off expired medications at Bellevue Medical Center?
Our pharmacies at Bellevue Medical Center and Nebraska Medicine Center are pleased to offer a drop-off site for unneeded, unwanted or expired medications. Medications, including controlled substances and those in liquid form, can be dropped into the box (note: this excludes injectable and aerosolized medications). This services provides our community a way to properly and safely dispose of medications. The blue, steel receptacles are available in the waiting areas of the pharmacies, as well as the University Health Center at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.
How many hours does a medication aid work?
Two levels: Medication Aide - 40 hour: can work in any setting. Must be knowledgeable of the 10 competencies and the basic routes. Medication Aide: can work in settings other than nursing homes, assisted living facilities and intermediate care facilities for the developmentally disabled.
How long can you work on the medication aid registry?
This includes having taken the exam to be listed as a Medication Aide on the Registry. You may only work for up to 30 days pending the results of your exam and/or placement on the registry if you have NEVER been a Medication Aide before and have never been on the Medication Aide Registry before.
