What is a PAC in Rogel?
The Patient Assistance Center (PAC), a satellite office of the Guest Assistance Program (GAP), was established for the unique needs of Rogel Cancer Center patients. The PAC offers immediate access to social work services at the cancer center. Our skilled, licensed social workers are available to alleviate barriers to care for patients and families. Available for patient walk-ins as well, PAC social workers collaborate with clinical social workers to meet the full scope of social work needs for patients and families.
What is the eligibility for financial assistance?
Qualification for financial assistance is based on household income, assets, expenses and a percentage of established Poverty Guidelines.
Is financial assistance available for medical bills?
Financial assistance may also be available in other limited circumstances, depending on the size of the patient’s medical bills and whether the patient meets certain other criteria for eligibility.

The discount is also available for services at UM Health-West Hospital, but does not apply to fees from physicians, such as a surgeon, emergency room physician, radiologist or anesthesiologist.

A Growing Problem
While patient assistance programs may serve to increase access to otherwise costly prescription medications, some payers, purchasers, and researchers have expressed concerns that copay cards in particular undermine reasonable incentives for clinicians and patients to respect plan formularies and speed members toward deductibles and out-of-pocket maximum amounts they might not otherwise satisfy, thereby increasing expenditures.

How long does it take for insurance to pay for UM Health West?

Basic medically necessary hospital services may be available at no charge if you are eligible under UM Health-West Hospital’s Financial Assistance Program. Program Description
The Michigan Medicaid Health Care Program is intended to provide medical and health-related assistance to low-income individuals and families who have no medical insurance or have inadequate medical insurance.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of Michigan, a US national, citizen or permanent resident in need of health care/insurance assistance, whose financial situation would be characterized as low income or very low income.
