The TOUCH Prescribing Program is designed to: Inform prescribers, infusion center healthcare providers, and patients about the risk of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) associated with TYSABRI including the increased risk of PML with treatment duration and prior immunosuppressant use.
Does Medicare pay for Tysabri?
It is important to note that medications given intravenously or by infusion, including Tysabri®, Novantrone, and any type of IV steroid, are not billed under Medicare Part D. These are billed through Medicare Part B because they require the services of a physician.
Is Tysabri a form of chemotherapy?
Tysabri isn't a kind of chemotherapy, but it is an immunosuppressant. Chemotherapy drugs are used to treat cancer. They work by stopping cells in your body from multiplying, especially cells that grow quickly (such as cancer cells). Immunosuppressants such as Tysabri work differently than chemotherapy drugs.
Is hair loss a side effect of Tysabri?
While taking Tysabri, it's not likely that you'll lose your hair. In clinical trials of Tysabri, hair loss wasn't a side effect. However, some other MS drugs, such as teriflunomide (Aubagio) and mitoxantrone, may cause hair loss. And Crohn's disease itself may cause some hair loss.

The overall worldwide cumulative rate of PML in patients who have received one or more Tysabri infusions is 0.5 cases of PML per 1,000 patients. Since Tysabri's re-marketing in the U.S., there have been no cases of PML in patients treated with Tysabri for less than 12 months.
